Ingunn Fjóla Ingþórsdóttir (b. 1976) graduated with a MA degree in Fine Art from the Iceland University of the Arts in 2017 and a BA degree in Fine Art from the same institution in 2007. She also holds a BA degree in Art History from the University of Aarhus, received in 2002.Ingunn works mainly in painting, weaving and installation. In her work, Ingunn has an inclination to extend the field of abstract painting into an open system, where the work is animated by the viewer and the space often through direct participation..
Ingunn´s work has been exhibited widely in galleries and museums in Iceland and abroad, including solo exhibitions at the National Gallery of Iceland, LÁ Art Museum and Cuxhavener Kunstvererin. Ingunn has participated in numerous group exhibitions including the Prague Biennale 5, Cluj Museum, Rumenia and Kunstverein Springhornhof, Germany. During her career, Ingunn has received numerous grants and awards. In 2022 she was awarded the Guðmunda S. Kristinsdóttir Art Award for outstanding female artists.
