Ósk Gunnlaugsdóttir
Ósk was born in 1979 in Reykjavík, Iceland where she currently lives and works. She graduated with BA in fine arts from Iceland University of the Arts in 2019, for one semester she attended the sérigraphie atelier at Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts in Brussels. Ósk approaches the
sculpturistic shapes of objects using angles, curves and surfaces emerging from the multilayered existence of the mind and society. Soft luminosity of the melted snow in the morning sun at Sængurkonusteinn, aspect of a boulder seized from the beach at Brákarsund or colour and light created on an embodiment of social norms. Ósk works in various media but seeks the grounding that is obtained in traditional painting. She draws inspiration from nature and the conceptual influence of people and the events that they create to the visage and peoples experiences of the landscape, whether in the real world or of the artwork where that is placed.
