Lilja Birgisdóttir (b. 1983) graduated in photography from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in the Netherlands in 2007 and BA from the Iceland University of the Arts in 2010. Since graduating, she has been a member of the artist-run gallery Kling og Bang in Reykjavík and in 2011 she founded the art magazine Endemi. . Lilja has participated in a number of exhibitions in Iceland as well as abroad, including the solo exhibition Love me back in Rawson Projects in New York 2017 as well as the joint exhibition Vegetation in Berg Contemporary 2020. Lilja has worked in many media and dealt with art, video art, sound performances and photography. Lilja was the author of the opening work of the Reykjavík Art Festival 2013, The Vessel Orchestra, where she worked with the captains of Reykjavík Harbor to create a soundtrack with the whistles of 15 ships. Lilja lives and works in Reykjavík.
