Edition 2/3 The series Hypothesis is a contemplation on the underlying systems that control the world, on our quest for knowledge and scientific answers, but also on how little we really know. Since time immemorial our existence and the creation of the world have been a source of countless speculations, and most religions have their own version of how the world was created. The idea that is dominant today is the Big Bang Theory. The theory is based on the scientific fact that the universe is constantly expanding, which indicates that it began in an infinitely dense dot which at some point started to expand. But we neither know what started this first motion nor when or if it will ever stop. Today there is even suspicion that the Big Bang is not necessarily a single event but a recirculation of events where the universe expands and collapses repeatedly to infinity.
